Sanaa endured a night of terror as Israeli airstrikes rocked the city, causing massive explosions and inflicting numerous casualties. The bombardment was Israel’s powerful answer to a Houthi missile attack, leaving the Yemeni capital to count its dead and wounded.
According to the Houthi-run health ministry, at least six people were killed and 86 were injured in the raid. Visuals from the city captured a huge fireball erupting into the sky, a terrifying sight for residents already traumatized by years of civil war.
The Israeli strikes targeted a building in central Sanaa, an oil company facility, and a power station, demonstrating a clear intent to disrupt the Houthi regime’s infrastructure. The attack was a direct retaliation for the Houthis’ use of a missile armed with a cluster bomb warhead.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu promised that this was just the beginning of the “heavy price” the Houthis would pay. For the people of Sanaa, however, the geopolitical conflict has translated into immediate and tragic consequences.
