The 7.4-magnitude earthquake that struck near San Jose del Palmar in Choco province on August 10 resulted in over 300 fatalities and left thousands injured. The scale of the destruction prompted Colombian authorities to declare a state of emergency, as numerous homes and infrastructure were severely damaged.
In response to the crisis, UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan directed the relief efforts, emphasizing the UAE’s commitment to supporting Colombia during this challenging time. The supplies provided were carefully chosen to align with the needs identified within the affected regions and were sourced from markets in Paraguay before being transported to Colombia for distribution.
